Performance Mindset Coaching

55-minute session- $200*

Would you benefit from a confidence boost? Do you want a competitive edge that allows you to remain calm and composed, even under intense pressure? What would it feel like to let bad calls roll off your back or to feel immune to your opponent’s attempts to get in your head? Imagine what it would feel like if your nerves and anxiety didn’t affect your elite form.

Have you ever been in a slump? Or spent countless hours in practice or private skills coaching trying to improve a skill, mastering it in practice, only for that skill not to translate when it’s time to compete? Mental performance problems are common in sports but rarely acknowledged. Sometimes, athletes may feel they will lose their competitive edge if they talk about this—especially when a spot on the team, scholarship, or potential offer could be at stake. However, ignoring the reality of these issues and worrying about their possibility causes increased stress, which can result in lost confidence. Not to mention, it makes you feel alone and awful!

I work with athletes to better understand their nervous system and use it to perform at their true potential when it matters most. By applying clinical techniques used in EMDR and incorporating biofeedback technology, athletes learn how to get into “the zone” on demand and sustain this flow state for extended periods. We focus on building mental resilience to build on peak performance and protect against future setbacks. Athletes using these techniques can start seeing improvement in their performance within 3-4 sessions. Mastery of these skills can carry over across sports and seasons and can be applied to other areas of life.

* It might be necessary to have one or more sessions in the field. Additional travel fees will apply to field sessions. These fees will be discussed in advance of any field services.

Performance EMDR Counseling

90-minute session- $300*

Are you struggling with The Yips or Lost Movement Syndrome? Perhaps coming back from an injury has you feeling overwhelmed? Or maybe something upsetting happened outside sports that keeps stealing your focus? Does it seem like you should be “over it,” but you can’t move past it? Perhaps you thought you were over it and can’t even figure out what is happening. Sometimes something that seems small or insignificant can trigger a memory of something upsetting from our past that starts to affect us in the present. Lost relationships, arguments, injuries, legal issues, and conflicts can carry over into our performance and affect us and/or memories of similar events from the past can get stirred up when something upsets us in the present - any of this can affect how we perform.

If you are worried about returning from an injury, having sudden or unexplained performance issues in your game, or if you are noticing issues outside of competitions, such as difficulty winding down, trouble sleeping, irritability, or feeling unsafe, EMDR can alleviate your symptoms and get you back in the game.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of psychotherapy that helps people heal from the symptoms of an upsetting emotional event or the psychological impact of a physical injury. EMDR is different than traditional talk therapy in that it doesn’t require discussing the painful memory during sessions. It is designed to help your brain disentangle the experience and the memory with other things that your body is associating with the memory (sights, smells, sounds, etc.) so they don’t affect you as intensely. EMDR often works quicker than traditional therapy and can help athletes return to their level of performance in as few as 8-10 sessions. Click here for more information on EMDR therapy.

* For best results, at least one field session should occur. Additional travel fees will apply to field sessions. These fees will be discussed in advance of any field services.

Coaches & Program Consultation

$250 an hour, 2-hour minimum

Coaches and athletic programs have a tremendous influence on athletes’ lives and play a vital role in the success of their teams.  Coaches may not always know the best way to support their players’ mental wellness. Depending on the athletes' ages, developmental stages, and the unique factors going on in their lives, athletes respond differently to different approaches. Sometimes, even good intentions can negatively impact an athlete’s performance and stay with an athlete over time.  This training provides education on individual and team communication techniques, signs athletes might be struggling with a mental health issue, intervention skills, and ways coaches can engage in behaviors to improve their athletes’ overall well-being and the success of their teams.
